Last month we were delighted to announce that we had been confirmed as finalists for the Small Business of the Year award at this year’s Derbyshire Times Business Awards. The Derbyshire Times Business Awards are one of Chesterfield’s highest profile awards as they attract a wide range of entries from across all sectors from both small and larger organisations and aim to recognise and celebrate the very best in local business and commerce.
The awards took place on Thursday 15th November at Chesterfield College and was hosted by Dronfield entrepreneur Jessica Cunningham, star of TV show The Apprentice. The venue was of great significance to Inspire as Lee, Inspire’s MD, explained before the event: “We are particularly looking forward to the awards this year due to them being hosted at Chesterfield College, which is where it all started for us really. I first met my now business partner when we were both young students on a BTEC construction course at Chesterfield College and we have been friends and later business partners ever since.”
Being shortlisted against companies such as Emerald Accountancy Services, Paperclip, Sanitaryware Supplies Company and The Window People, the standard of competition this year was extremely high. As per The Derbyshire Times criteria, the companies put forward were judged on;
- The ethos and background of the company and its profitability
- The company’s unique selling points which make it a success
- The difference the company has made in its sector since it started trading
- How the company has overcome any challenges it has encountered
- Future plans for innovation and growth
The team had a great evening and were highly commended in the category of Small Business of the Year. A great result for only our second awards nomination!
Well done to all of Thursday night’s winners and to those who were nominated for an award.
